Mini Projects

This morning my BFF, Allison had a garage sale and
I snagged some new (to me) stuff.

(Made a quick trip to Walmart for paint and it was slim pickings... so I'm not totally happy with the colors, but I can always re-paint them. I'm collecting frames for a large picture-filled wall.)

Got this big mirror- I'd like to paint it either turquoise or peacock blue.
Unsure of where to put it- I'm thinking it'll stay in the corner of our living room for a while.

And at the last minute I decided I wanted the mustard colored pitcher. I'm glad I got it- it's super cute.

We are also getting some new (old) speakers from them for Bill's record player.
I wanted something vintage looking and they are right down our alley.

Yay, garage sales.

*Edit- I let the paint dry, put some random stuff in them... and now I like the frame colors.

Picture I took of "The Group" at Adam and Rachel's wedding...

Birthday card from Steph...

Now I'm off to watch SNL with the BF... wild and crazy Saturday night, I tell ya'.

My jewlery box is a hot mess. It's overflowing and it's also in our full to capacity closet, which isn't too functional. I've been admiring these ceramic egg crates for a while (first seen on YHL and then today on Apt Therapy)... but one of those wouldn't totally solve my problem- it would just be a pretty place to put frequently worn jewelry.

Then, I found the picture below- and totally love the idea of displaying my necklaces on a fancy little frame. The the rest of my jewelry (the keepsake stuff- my class ring, tacky old things I can't seem to part with) can stay in my current jewelry box... aaaand, problem solved.

TFGIFF

TMI Allert.

This week has been pretty dumb. Haven't done too much today- cleaned up last night's vomit off of the carpet in front of my bathroom (I knew I puked while I was half asleep last night -from coughing really hard, no stomach flu or anything- but I didn't know I didn't get it all in the toilet. I'm real graceful when I'm sick at 1am).

Also trying to organize a trip to Dallas (ha, "trip"... I live 15 minutes away from Dallas... I just hate driving there, so when I go out on the town- it's usually in Fort Worth) to see Cabaret! I really hope it works out because I am so super excited about it. If you live in the DFDubya'... you should see it, too! I can guarantee you won't be disapointed.

My day has also involved a lot of cleaning
(I clean a lot... and not just when things are messy)
and a lot of these guys...
(Haha, NOT the Pump Up the Volume soundrack.... Pixies.)

I purchased and watched Happily Ever After a few months ago and really loved it.
If you haven't seen it, you should- it's lovely
(and depressing... but I dig that.)

I fell in love with Charlotte Gainsbourg after seeing The Science of Sleep...

and I'm Not There...

... and decided to give this movie a shot.
Obviously, I wasn't disapointed.

(And if you don't care a lick about Charlotte or subtitles-
Johnny Depp has like a 10 minute cameo.
-Even though the clip above makes it look like he's a lead-
But it you're watching it for him... I'd just skip it altogether.)

My boyfriend is kindova a punk rocker.
The other day this song came up on his MP3 player.

Which reminded me of this song...

We like different kinds of music (I mean... I like The Ramones, but mainly because they've been featured in movies that I enjoy), but we're meshing them together pretty well. (I don't think he was jamming out to the Fiona Apple I was playing when he got home from work quite as much as I was. And he can't get down with a lot of the silly rap songs I like *cough*Bigge Smalls*cough*. And I don't really share his interest in Puerto Rican Reggae.)

The first song we sang together (and giggled like little kids to) was Blister In The Sun. And, we both share a love for these dudes...

(Kind of an inside joke, but go with it...)

Mean Reds

I'm not in a happy place this morning.
These videos always cheer me up a lot.
Sooo... I may watch them on repeat.

Ahem...

I really really really want these pillow cases.
They've been on my Wishlist for a while... and I really really want them. Really.

I also really really really want this poster.

I realize that being priced at $40 and $60- it's a stupid amount of money
to spend on pillow cases and a poster.
But I will CHERISH THEM. FOREVER. I PROMISE.
(Psst- my birthday is coming up.)

XOXOXOXO,
Em
